Artist's Comments

Drawn from the same reference photo as [link] I spent all day today redrawing this since I had been unhappy with my final result on the other one. To be honest, there are things I like better about this one, and things I like better about the other one I drew. Onthis I can tell I started getting tired because a lot of the shading seems scribbled. I didnt even notice until after I scanned it...lol. I thought about going back to the peice and blending some more, and trying to correct it, but then I decided there was something I liked about the scribble, so it stays.

This one went through scanner hell also, and again I tried to smooth out thos ugly horizontal lines in PSP, but not with much luck...Im afraid to do too much because I don't want it to affect the actualy peice too much.

This is my second drawing for my firefly series...both so far have been of River. I can't decide who to draw next, maybe Kaylee...

Drawn with HB, 2B, 4B, and mechanical pencils.

EDIT: I just went back and really compared this drawing to the other one that I used the same reference photo for...and its weird how different they are. I guess it just goes to show how much an artists mood can make a peice change. I really hate the lips and eyes on this one compared to the other one, but I hated so much of the other one so badly that I cropped it out when I uploaded it...its just odd is all...lol

I like the lips and eye of the other one better too. But this is really good too! I really like the neck on this, especially where the crease is.

Yeah its weird. I drew it from the same photo, and it seems I saw the photo differently the second time because I thought I was drawing what I saw each time....Thank you hun

I know I have some e-mail from you I need to respond to, I've been anti-LJ and anti-e-mail for the last day or so....Promise I'll actually check my e-mail and comments at some point today.

I use a graphing method where I graph out the original photo and then draw it square by square. When I was younger it was the first method of drawing realistically that seemed to work for me, and it helps me look at the details more...it usually works out for the best, though sometimes you can see where I get a bit off. Those drawings don't usually get posted though. Oh and I start from the inner squares and work out...hope this all made sense.

The reason I cropped River Tam 1 when I posted it was because something in the parts I cut out went askew because I didn't linke up the blocks just right....

Thank you. I really thought people would criticize this because of the way its shaded...lol. I'm glad you like it.

Thank you! :D Though it doesn't have the detail of your peices....I usually try not to have to draw clothing because of the texture work involved...
